10 Ayurvedic Medicine Herbs And Their Benefits

Ayurveda which has used to cure many alignments for centuries in traditional India has more than 5,000 herbs, each herb used to rectify or stimulate certain bodily functions. We have picked a few of the top herbs which are commonly used in ayurvedic medications;

  1. Ashwagandha:

The health benefits of Ashwagandha has been known for thousands of years. It is a well-known herb to aid in stress relief, anxiety, balances hormones in the body, lowers cortisol, helps in adrenal dysfunction and increases energy levels in the body It can be used for antidepressant medications.

2.Triphala:

Triphala is a blend of three Indian herbs bibhitaki, haritaki and amla. Triphala is widely used by many dieticians to improve the digestive system and fight against constipation. It helps is cleaning of the digestive system by acting as a laxative. 

  1. Amla:

Amla, which is an ingredient of triphala has its own benefits. Amla is highly effective to boost the immune system hence you will hear many physicians and dieticians suggesting people to drink amla juice mixed with water every morning. Amla is high in vitamin C hence it helps your body fight against cold and flu. 

  1. Basil:

Basil leaves which is a traditional remedy in India for cold, flu, other infections, allergies, and asthma is known to boost immunity hence people consume basil every day by adding it to their tea or boiling the leaves in hot water and drinking it.

  1. Neem:

The leaves from the neem tree can be used for multiple treatments such as remedy from viral, fungal and bacterial infections. Neem is also known to be an excellent blood purifier. The flowers from the neem tree can help in getting rid of dandruff and acne. Consumption of the neem leaves is also suggested by physicians to patients who suffer from diabetes as it lowers the blood sugar.

  1. Shatavari:

This herb is best used in women who suffer from reproductive organ issues such as irregular periods, infertility, dealing with menopause and PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome). Shatavari balances hormones in females and enhances fertility. It also helps in reducing hot flashes during menopause.

  1. Curcumin:

This herb can be found in every Indian kitchen and it has multiple benefits. It is an anti-inflammatory and helps with arthritis pain. It also helps with digestion and clears up arteries. Curcumin is also known for its anti-depressive properties

  1. Cumin:

Cumin is a spice which can be found in an Indian kitchen which helps in digestion mostly which in turn relieves you from gas and constipation. It also helps with conditions like insomnia and improves the texture of your skin and hair.

  1. Cardamom:

Cardamom is an Indian spice whose limited consumption can help with digestive related issues and it can also be used to get rid of bad breath. It can be used to treat gastrointestinal issues like nausea, vomiting, indigestion and stomach pain. 

  1. Arjuna:

Arjuna is an herb that has been used for years to improve cardiovascular health. This herb can help in relieving chest pain which is related to heart disease and can additionally treat the heart disease or lower the risk of developing one.
