April 1, 2017 By Charles Michel Leave a Comment

So you have got yourself a little champion at home, its voice echoing around your house and you love every moment of it It doesn’t matter to you in the start whether you have to spend nights and nights awake because a parent’s love for their child knows no bounds. While it might be very exciting keeping your baby healthy is your top priority of yours. Due to this, you will have to take extra care when it comes to your little ones’ sleep.

It is a very well-known fact that if your baby doesn’t get his required sleep, he will be frustrated and will be crying for long hours. This can hurt the health of your child, so it is important to know the ways your child can sleep faster and better. Here we will take a look at ways you can help your baby sleep faster:

  1. Chamomile Tea

Chamomile is a natural herb, and thus it eliminates any real fears of affecting your baby’s health. Chamomile tea is safe for you and your baby during breastfeeding, as it is a natural sedative, your baby will fall asleep faster and have long and quiet sleep without waking up, although asking your pediatrician about it is a good idea.

  1. Adjusting the Lights

Whenever your baby is in play time she will be in a very well-lit room which is the reason during sleep time you have to darken the nursery as much as possible. Having a night lamp can also affect your baby’s sleep if she wakes up in the middle of the night.

  1. Warm Bath

A good bath gives a relaxing experience to anybody including babies. Giving your baby a good warm bath while wiping her gently with a washcloth will help your baby to relax and get into a soothing state helping him fall asleep faster.

  1. Overnight Diapers

Overnight diapers go a long way in making sure your baby gets his full sleep. When you use regular diapers, you tend to change it every time your baby wakes up, but the overnight diapers help the baby sleep comfortably. Whenever your baby wakes up, and you change his diapers, you tend to make the baby alert and take him out of his sleep mood.

  1. Dreamfeed

This is a method that has been used more and more over the years. Dreamfeed means feeding your baby before you go to bed and while the baby is asleep. The intake of extra food, while she sleeps, helps in having extra hours of uninterrupted sleep because babies often wake up in the middle of the night feeling hungry.

  1. Keeping the Nursery Cool

Research has shown that not only babies but even adults get cozy and fall asleep faster in a cool environment. Keeping your baby’s room cool will help him fall asleep faster and sleep better. The recommended temperature for the nursery during sleep time is 65 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

  1. Not to rush when you hear some sounds

Babies tend to wake up during their sleep hours and fall back asleep within minutes, but if you hear your baby waking up on the baby monitor and rush to his room to help him sleep you might just wake him up totally, and she will lose his sleep. Waiting for a few moments before entering the room will give your baby’s mind enough time to figure out that sleep time is still not over

  1. Creating a Routine

Creating is schedule is as important as anything when you plan out your baby’s sleep and play time you will find it easier to follow it. Whenever it’s bedtime, you can shut out the lights and silence the room which indicates to the baby’s mind that it is resting time Following this schedule also helps train your baby in a few months to feel drowsy at the time you meant for her to sleep.

  1. Massage

Gently massaging your baby also soothes her; gentle massage for 10 to 15 minutes can go a long to get your baby into relaxation mode. Remember while in the spa you too fall asleep during a massage, it is that comfortable. Massaging using baby oil is an added advantage.

  1. Read a Story

At this age, it won’t matter to your child what story you read to her Since the beginning, your baby is accustomed to your voice so reading a story to her in a calm voice can help her feel sleepy. As said before it doesn’t matter what you are reading so you can also cheat here a bit and take time for yourself and read what you enjoy for once.

  1. Swaddling

As your baby was used to being in your womb for nine months, it will be used to being in a small space. Swaddling the baby helps replicate the same scenario and trick her into falling asleep. This is something you need to learn and do carefully as you don’t want to swaddle them too tight or too loose.

  1. White Noise

As your baby is accustomed to the womb as said above she is also used to hearing sounds such as your heart beating. If you use products such as the white noise machine or simply switch on a fan, it will again replicate the same scenario helping your baby fall asleep.

  1. Singing

It’s time to stop the bathroom singing and time to start singing in the open. Researchers have noticed that singing to a baby, especially a lullaby helps them calm down and relax them, this, in turn, helps them to fall asleep faster. Not only that but singing is also known to be stress-busting so while your baby is falling asleep you are relaxing too.

  1. Caffeine Intake

This is an important part of being a mother you have to breastfeed your little sunshine and while you wake up in the night due to your child and make yourself a coffee remember that a child’s system is not that of an adult. The caffeine could keep your baby awake for long as it could very well enter her system during breastfeeding. So it is recommended that you stop your caffeine intake till you are breastfeeding your little one.

  1. No eye contact

Researchers have found that looking your baby in the eye stimulates the baby and thinks that it is play time Though you will be very attracted to those adorable eyes not looking directly into your baby’s eyes will help the baby sleep faster.

Uninterrupted and long sleep helps your baby’s health and in part contributes to getting you some shut-eye too. So here we have seen 15 ways to make your baby fall asleep faster try them, and you will see the results.
