Tonsil Stones

Learn How To Remove Tonsil Stones At Home With These 3 Tonsil Stone Removal Methods

November 24, 2016 By Charles Michel Leave a Comment

Your tonsils are one of the most important parts of your immune system, as they help protect you from viruses and bacteria trying to invade your body. Your tonsils are organs that contain pockets inside them called crypts. Your tonsil crypts can sometimes get clogged up with different debris such as food particles or mucus. Once the build-up of debris occurs in your tonsil crypts it can cause a problem known as tonsil stones.

People who suffer from tonsil stones are desperately trying to find a cure for it because it causes their breath to smell horrible. Not only bad breath, but these nasty little stones can also cause sore throat, difficulty swallowing, and ear pain. Getting them removed should definitely be your top priority if you have them.

It can sometimes be tough to tell whether or not if you have tonsil stones because they are usually so small in size. However, once you start coughing them up it’s time to start trying to get rid of them. If you leave tonsil stones untreated they can grow bigger in size and cause even worse problems that can make your daily life difficult.

Salt Water

Since one of the most common causes of tonsil stones is mucus buildup in the tonsils one of the best remedies you can try involves gargling salt water. When you gargle salt water it helps loosen up the mucus getting leaked from your nose into your mouth so that it doesn’t build up as badly. Moreover, the salt water also helps fight off the tonsil stone-causing bacteria. To make this salt water solution you’ll need a couple tablespoons of salt and a cup of water. The best type of salt to use is sea salt and always use filtered water instead of tap water straight out the faucet. Another tip is to use hot water so that the salt can dissolve making the solution more effective at dislodging the stones from your tonsil crypts.

Oral Irrigators

Oral irrigators like waterparks are made to be used as a tool to floss in between the teeth. However, using these water-powered flossing tools can also help blast the little stones out from your tonsils. You can find these oral irrigators at your local pharmacy for as little as $20. Just make sure when you use these irrigators you set the water pressure on low so that it doesn’t rupture your tonsils.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Another tonsil stone removal at home you can try using is hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide can be mixed with some water and gargled to help dislodge the stones. Hydrogen peroxide has been used for various oral health benefits for years like bad breath, whitening teeth, and preventing gum disease. Simply add a few drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide to an 8-ounce cup of water and then stir it up. Once this hydrogen peroxide solution is made gargle it like you would mouthwash and then spit it out.

If you are trying to figure out how to get rid of tonsil stones these home remedies should definitely help. Along with these remedies, you should also focus on removing dairy products and sweets from your diet because they can cause the formation of tonsil stones.
